What is APPR?

All Pikes Peak Reads is an annual Pikes Peak Library District project. Every year several works are chosen for the region-wide read-a-long.

APPR books usually focus on a theme, which for 2014 is "Engage the Extraordinary."

According to the PPLD website, the 2014 choices, including The Invention of Wings, "also reflect our nation's 50th anniversary celebration of the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964."

The All Pikes Peak Reads project aims to bring people together to read and engage in dialogue sparked by the chosen texts.

The PPCC Writing Center partnered with APPR in 2013 with a writing contest celebrating Carolyn Wall's Sweeping Up Glass.

This year, we hope to expand that effort to unite artists of all kinds in a conversation about freedom, American History, and the essence of storytelling itself.
